A reminder about The Four Agreements

Posted by LP User on Monday, August 24, 2015, In : Whats worked for me

These simple suggestions continue to help me on a daily basis!

THE FOUR AGREEMENTS :

1.         BEING IMPECCABLE WITH MY WORDS :

Speak with integrity. Say only what I mean. Avoid using words to speak against myself or to gossip about others. Use the power of my word in the direction of Truth and Love.

2.         DON’T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY :

Nothing others do is because of me. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When I am immune to the opi...

Dealing with stress as a new mom

Posted by LP User on Monday, September 15, 2014, In : Whats worked for me
Anyone who has gone through the experience of being a new mom, will know the level of stress you experience on a moment to moment basis every day. This stress quite literally stays in your body and piles up, making an already almost unbearable state, totally overwhelming. So often then, this stress is felt in the body (headaches, sore back, insomnia, anxiety, depression). Because of my practice in TRE I have been able to manage this stress build up better. I'm quite sure that without these Te...

yoga followed by tre

Posted by LP User on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, In : Whats worked for me

For the last few months a friend of mine (yoga teacher) and I have been meeting weekly for an hour of yoga followed by an hour of tre. This has been a wonderful process of release and deep relaxation.
Through the process of hatha yoga my muscles would become fatigued, thus allowing the physical fatigue tremors to follow on naturally. Easily I was able to move into the deep process of relaxation from the TRE process and experience the benefits of doing tre weekly with another person. My body ha...

LIfe Alignment - Alex Edgar

Posted by LP User on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, In : Whats worked for me

Alex Edgar offers massage, reiki and energy work from her rooms in the southern peninsula of Cape Town. I approached Alex looking, I thought, for massage. Whilst she is a fantastic masseur, she offers more than this. On occasions I received reiki from her and Life Alignment.
LIfe Alignment was different from anything I had experienced before. It uses a combinatin of muscle testing and dowsing, with a complex map of points for the body's energy anatomy.Through the muscle testing she bypassed th...

The wonders of movement therapy combined with art therapy.

Posted by LP User on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, In : Whats worked for me

"Katie Menell from Prospect Hill offerred 7 weekly movement therapy sessions, in which a process was started and finished neatly. The combination of movement, meditation, drawing and writing was wonderful and extremely provocative. My unconscious came alive. Katie was excellent at guiding and supporting me in this very specialised form of therapy. Her gentleness was felt as was her expert knowledge in the process. I would recommend this process to anyone who wants to "get out of their usual...

SOS: Negative to Positive thinking

Posted by LP User on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, In : Whats worked for me
The other day I found myself sinking into a bit of a dip and beginning to entertain the idea of a self piteous afternoon. Suddenly I realised to how much a part of this feeling I was contributing. I stopped, observed my thoughts and steered away from the negativity. Deciding not to allow this feeling to dominate my afternoon, was empowering. It showed me I can change the way Im thinking and feeling, and therefore behaving.
What a relief!
Simple technique: SOS
If you are an addict/alcoholic/cod...

Support groups

Posted by LP User on Sunday, March 24, 2013, In : Whats worked for me
A long time back I realised that spending time with another person(s) who can relate to me, helped. Belonging to various support groups has brought me more knowledge, furthered my sense of belonging, kept me accountable, allowed me a space to give back and offer service, introduced fun and adventure to my life and connected me with others. This connection seems to me to be the most profound factor. Knowing that every time I step into a support group (be it an anonymous meetings, book club, sp...

Whats worked for me... breathe!

Posted by LP User on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, In : Whats worked for me

Each time I blog I will endeavour to offer helpful activities that could assist you in your recovery. Over the years I have found many different 'therapies' that have gently (sometimes not so gently!) shifted me into a healthier place.
There is nothing more frustrating than living in anxiety.
BREATHE!
This is such a simple, easy FREE tool. Take 5 minutes (even 2 min) out every time you find yourself getting agitated. Ground yourself  (sit, where possible) and breathe in through your nose for thr...
